About the Friends

The Friends of Ela Library is a non-profit organization whose members support the Ela Area Public Library District. The Friends provide support for the Library through membership fees, fund-raising events and special programs.

The Friends organization is directed by a board that includes officers and committee chairpersons. Some committees include membership, ways & means (responsible for the annual spring luncheon), used book sales and publicity.

Anyone interested in serving on a Friends' committee or volunteering on a Friends' project should leave a message for us at the Library's Information Desk or call Terri Meyer, (847) 438-3433, ext. 171.

Activities

The Friends host several fund-raising events each year such as three used book sales, a membership drive and a Book Review Luncheon. They also offer book bags and gently-used books for sale at the Library on an ongoing basis.

Other activities include decorating for the holidays and helping with special Library events.
