The Friends of Ela Library is a non-profit organization whose members support
the Ela Area Public Library District. The Friends provide support for the
Library through membership fees, fund-raising events and special programs.
The Friends organization is directed by a board that includes officers and
committee chairpersons. Some committees include membership, ways & means
(responsible for the annual spring luncheon), used book sales and publicity.
Anyone interested in serving on a Friends' committee or volunteering on a
Friends' project should leave a message for us at the Library's Information Desk
or call Terri Meyer, (847) 438-3433, ext. 171.
The Friends host several fund-raising events each year such as three used
book sales, a membership drive and a Book Review Luncheon. They also offer book
bags and gently-used books for sale at the Library on an ongoing basis.
Other activities include decorating for the holidays and helping with special
Library events.
In addition to the satisfaction of nurturing the Library, Friends members enjoy these special benefits:
