Passport Services
Ela Area Public Library is now an official Passport Acceptance Facility,
accepting applications for new and renewal passports at the Information Desk on
the 1st floor. Please note that there is an approximately six week period from
the time of the application to the receipt of the passport.
New Passports
Under Age 16 (valid for 5 years, cannot be renewed)
- $60 - Passport fee, payable to U.S. Department of State
- $25 - Processing fee, payable to Ela Area Public Library
Over Age 16 (valid for 10 years)
- $75 - Passport fee, payable to U.S. Department of State
- $25 - Processing fee, payable to Ela Area Public Library
Renewal Passports
- $75 -Passport fee, payable to U.S. Department of State
Optional Services
- Photographs - $10, payable to Ela Area Public Library
- Expedited Service - $60, payable to U.S. Department of State (this fee is
in addition to the passport fee and the processing fee)

- Personal with a local suburban address - at library's discretion
- Bounced checks are subject to a $10 processing fee
We will be processing passports everyday, up to a half hour prior to closing.
Patrons should call the Library or refer to the passport website for the
requirements to obtain a passport –such as birth certificate, naturalization
papers etc.
The passport agency states that normal delivery of passports is within 6
weeks or 25 business days. Expedited Service speeds delivery to 2 weeks or 10
business days.
