During the 19th century, nearly six million Germans left their homes for other lands, and most would never see Germany again. German Emigration Historian Astrid Adler discusses why German descendants emmigrated from the Grand Duchy area in Germany. Learn about their hardships, the emigration process and journey, their new life and much more. From Tiefenort, Germany, Ms. Astrid specializes in emmigration to America during the 19th century. She is the author of two books “Our Ancestors Were German” and “Goodbye Forever – Life Beyond Germany.”
