Hearing Loss Services and Resources

What services does the Ela Area Public Library provide for the hearing impaired?

  • Listening amplification devices are available for patrons who attend a program and indicate a need for extra amplification.
  • A TV Ears headset is available for patrons to check-out and use in their homes.  This device amplifies sound from a television while not interfering with the standard television sound levels.
  • Illinois Relay Service:  By dialing 7-1-1, users who are deaf, speech impaired or have hearing loss can communicate via the telephone with Library staff.
  • Referrals to local agencies that provide free amplification telephones.

For more information or to reserve a device, contact the Outreach Coordinator at (847) 438-3433 ext. 140 or email cwagner@eapl.org
