What services does the Ela Area Public Library provide for the hearing impaired?
- Listening amplification devices are available for patrons who attend a program and indicate a need for extra amplification.
- A TV Ears headset is available for patrons to check-out and use in their homes. This device amplifies sound from a television while not interfering with the standard television sound levels.
- Illinois Relay Service: By dialing 7-1-1, users who are deaf, speech impaired or have hearing loss can communicate via the telephone with Library staff.
- Referrals to local agencies that provide free amplification telephones.
