Storywalks

The Children's Department, the Village of Lake Zurich Parks and Recreation Department and the Ancient Oaks Foundation are working together to bring you storywalks in area parks. Enjoy reading and the outdoors at the same time! Our first walk is available at Oak Ridge Marsh. More information is available here.

Storytimes

Storytime @ Home 
Ms. Anna & Ms. Jillian present a Storytime @ Home video with all your favorite songs, rhymes & books! A link to view this video will be emailed and available for two weeks.
For all ages. Please register by Friday, December 18th.

ABC Adventures
Have fun with a new letter every week. Each series in this program will explore several letters through videos and supplemental take home kits. You will receive an email when kits are ready to be picked up curbside. Scheduled videos will be emailed to registered participants each week. For ages 3-5.
Please register. December 9, 16, 30 and January 6 (Series 1: letters A-D)

Take Home Activity Kits

Due to high demand all kits require registration and are limited to Ela Area Library cardholders. Your library card number is required to register. Registration begins December 1st at 10am. Kits must be picked up curbside between December 13-31st.

At Home Crafternoon 
Get crafty at home! Create your own work of art at home using the supplies provided in your kit.
Please register. For grades K-5.

Kids in the Kitchen
Do you love to cook? Then you will want a kitchen kit! Each kit will contain some essential chef tools and a surprise recipe to make at home, using your own ingredients. Be sure to let us know how your culinary masterpiece turns out. Please register. For ages 7 and up.

Series Squad 
Each month we will feature two popular children's book series. Your kit will contain activities related to the series. You can also test your knowledge in our online Kahoot trivia contest. 
Please register for only one: Frog and Toad OR Magic Tree House

Science Explorer Boxes
Using the materials and instructions provided along with a few items you already have at home, you will be able to create fun science projects and perform experiments.
Please register. For ages 3-6 and ages 7-10.

Drawing Programs

Do You Want to Draw a Snowman?
There’s snow time like December to learn to draw all things winter! Cartoonist Mark Anderson will guide you in drawing snow-tally awesome reindeer, elves, snow people, and more!
The link for this live Zoom program will be emailed to registered participants the day of the program. Monday, December 21 7:00pm
For grades K and up. Please register.

Gather your own supplies and join Christine Thornton online. Each class features an instructional video through YouTube and the chance to connect with the teacher and classmates on Facebook. A link to the video will be sent to your email. Register before 9:00am the day of each program.

Origami Winter Trees
Make a forest of origami paper trees. You will need scissors and paper cut into 9x9 inch squares. For ages 9 and up. Please register.
The link to the video will be sent on Thursday December 10 by 10am and will be available until Wednesday, December 16 at 9pm.

How To Draw Roblox
First we will draw easy faces and then move on to creating the Golden Unicorn. For all ages. Please register.
A link will be sent to registered participants on Thursday, December 17 at 10am and will be available until Wednesday, December 23 at 9pm.

Family Programs

Ebenezer Duke
Ebenezer Duke is an original mini-musical based on Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. This pre-recorded program is great for all ages, especially families looking to enjoy something fun and festive this holiday season! The link to the program will be available here from Monday, December 14 at 10:00am through Monday, December 28 at 9:00pm. No registration is required.

Forge Programs

Minecraft Mania
Join the team from Minecraft Mania for a fun and interactive Minecraft session! Play Minecraft with teammates using multiplayer mode, work together to build something and solve in-game challenges. Learn basic coding, digital citizenship, problem solving, and critical thinking all through Minecraft. No experience necessary. A Minecraft account is required. If you need an account, please email mbourgeois@eapl.org.
For grades 3-5. Please register. Tuesday, December 29 2:00-3:30pm

Book Match

Books will be selected within two weeks from the date of the registration deadline and put at the drive-up window for pickup. You will be notified when they are ready.
Please provide a library card number and a valid email address at time of registration. This program will run every two weeks, sign up as many times as you like!

Little Kids Book Match
We will select up to 5 books on any theme you choose. Coordinating supplemental materials will be emailed to you. Once you've completed your topic, come by the Children's Department for a sticker.
For ages 0-5. Registration is required by Friday, December 18.
 
Kids Book Match
Tell us what you like to read and we’ll make some selections just for you! From easy readers to junior fiction, you choose the categories and we'll select up to 5 books for you to enjoy.
