Teacher Resources

Teacher Resources

The Children's Department at the Ela Area Public Library strives to support teachers through our collections and school visits. Questions? Elementary school teachers please contact Katie Less at kless@eapl.org. Middle school teachers please contact Pam Allen at pallen@eapl.org to request materials or Becca Boland at bboland@eapl.org to arrange visits or tours. High School teachers please contact Renee Stein at rstein@eapl.org.

Teacher Cards

Teacher cards are available to those who teach in schools within the Ela Area Public Library District. These cards allow teachers to check out materials for classroom use with an extended checkout period of six weeks. Visit the Children’s Reference Desk to apply for your card.

Material Requests

Teachers may request materials for their classes by contacting their school liaison. Please give us three days to fill large requests. Materials may be picked up at the library either inside or at the convenient drive-up window. If you teach in District 95 you may have your materials delivered to you on the District 95 van. Materials may also be returned to the library on the van. This van belongs to District 95 and is not controlled by the Ela Area Public Library.

Classroom Visits & Library Tours

School liaisons are available to visit your classroom for programs and book talks. Watch your mailbox for information about the school visit programs offered by your school liaison. Teachers may also arrange to bring their classes to the library for a program and/or tour. Arrangements for these visits must be made ahead of time with your school liaison.

Textbooks for Students in Grades K-8

Copies of textbooks for elementary school students are kept near the Children’s Reference Desk. Middle school students will find copies of their textbooks in the Teen Zone. If you are using an alternative or special text in your class, please provide us with a copy if possible. Textbooks are not available for checkout, but photocopies may be made.

BrainFuse - Live Homework Help

BrainFuse allows students in grades K through 12 to work online with a professional tutor on homework in math, English, science, social studies and more. Worksheets, tutorials and ISAT sample questions are also available. This service is available daily from 2-9pm. Please note that tutors are subject specialists, are not located at the Ela Area Public Library and are not necessarily librarians. This service is also available in Spanish.

Online Resources

All of our computers provide access to the Internet and Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel. The Library also subscribes to many online databases to help your students with their homework either at the library or at home. For a complete list visit the Research page.
